Modest Crop Top and Shorts Outfit

One of the cutest trends right now is crop tops.  Luckily high waisted bottoms are also on trend to compliment them.

I'm guessing there are other girls and women out there like me who consider themselves modest.  I'm not extreme about it in anyway - as you can probably tell from following along on my blog - but I'm not one for really baring my mid-drift either.

I also am larger up top which can make the whole crop top thing that much more difficult to navigate.  But when I came across these shorts at Bloomingdale's I knew I was going to have to give it a go in order to showcase the gorgeous detailing at the waist.

This side-tie crop top is great for so many reasons:
1.  The fabric is not stretch - so it isn't going to hug anything, which in this case is a good thing.
2.  It's a longer crop top.  I definitely still consider it a crop top but it is long enough to cover the girls and still hit at my natural waist.
3.  The tie adds just a tad extra coverage, plus it's super cute!

These shorts are a must have too because they're so stinkin cute but they're also the perfect length for those of us with thighs!  I feel like every store has shorts on models with really skinny legs and I find they never look as good on me as they do the model.  Which is fine, it's just nice to find high waisted shorts that are also long enough!

My purse is a Kate Spade from a few years back, here is the most similar one I could find, though it is mostly white with blue accents (still adorable!).  But if you ever see a navy purse snatch it up because this thing is a staple in this preppy girl's closet!

Shoes are Jack Rogers jelly sandals - super comfortable and won't get ruined in the rain!  Though they are slippery if you do get them wet...

Ok - so - I want to know what you think of this look!  Are you somewhat modest like me?  Would you wear this?

Kaeli Smith Designs

I'm really excited to share a new designer with you all today!

Kaeli Smith Designs.  An up and coming brand that makes gorgeous prints!  I first discovered the clothes at Dillard's but you can also find them in many boutiques.

I actually had the chance to meet Kaeli and she is the sweetest!  I'm so excited to have the chance to help spread the word about her clothing line!

This pretty little thing is an Annie shift in the print 'Tied to You'.

I love the fit of this dress!  And of course paired it with my favorite Jacks :)

I also have a pair of Kelly shorts in 'Come Sail With Me'.

P.S. I took these shorts photos in public and yes people were staring... #bloggerproblems

Oh well it was worth it and how cute is this print?!

Lilly Pulitzer Fourth of July - Sparks Fly

Happy Birthday to the U.S.A!  We should all be thankful every single day that we get to live in this great country and that we have so many amazing men and women willing to fight for our freedom.

Now I have to talk about this dress.  I know Lilly has several prints perfect for the fourth but I really think this is the best one (totally unbiased, right? :P)

I just love the coloring of it and the fireworks, sailboats, and tiny American flags :)

Usually we as women never want to be caught dead wearing the same thing but I saw so many girls on Instagram rocking this dress and I loved knowing I was #twinning with all those lovely ladies!  I think that is what is so great about Lilly, it's truly a community of girls and women who all connect over these beautiful clothes and living life with a sunny state of mind.

I love my new navy Jack Rogers too, get them here, they're so perfect (and 50% off!).

Hope you all got to spend the day with the ones you love <3

#tbt Lilly for Target for My Birthday

Well it's taken me a while but I am finally writing about what I wore on my birthday!  Lilly for Target of course :)  I finally broke out my Nosey Posey shift, I didn't want to waste it before so my birthday was the first time I wore it.

After work, Brian and I headed to Epcot for a bit.  I had these gorgeous Kendra Scott earrings from my Rocksbox at the time (katiexoxo1 for a free trial at sign up!)

Had to grab some Starbucks while we were there.  Passion Fruit Iced Tea Lemonade - yaaaasss!

After wandering around and riding Soarin' (my favorite!) We headed to Yacht and Beach to change for dinner.

We had some extra time so of course I wanted to take some pictures!  What else would you expect from a blogger?!

Best thing to happen?  Snapping pics with no one else in them, it looks like we had the place to ourselves but we really didn't at all!

Worst part?  All the people staring at you wondering why you are acting like some sort of wanna-be model... oh well :)  #bloggerproblems

Gosh I loved those earrings!

If you've never been to the Boardwalk at Disney make sure you check it out next time you're here!  It is one of my favorite places on property.

Again with not having people!  It must have been some birthday luck!

Ugh such a gorgeous backdrop!

Finally it was time for dinner at the BEST restaurant ever - Yachtsman Steakhouse.  It's a real treat to get to go, definitely not a place most people can attend regularly.  I got filet mignon with the best mashed potatoes I've ever had!  Yum!

It was such a great day and I swear I have never gotten so many compliments on a dress before!  Way to go Lilly for Target!

And how could you not compliment such a bright, fun shift - especially with that pineapple zipper pull!

Navy and White Night

I kind of love Thursday nights.  I know it sounds odd, most prefer Friday or Saturday night.  And for obvious reasons!  I like Thursday night though, there is something about knowing tomorrow is Friday that makes staying up late on a work night okay.  Friday is usually an easier day so you can live it up on Thursday and make it through the last day of the week on a little less sleep somehow.

So tonight we decided to take a stroll around a nearby outdoor mall.  It was a nice night with a nice breeze!
I wore these navy J Crew chinos, white and navy striped crop top from The Limited, and one of my new favorite necklaces from Rocksbox!  Use code katiexoxo1 for a FREE month of Rocksbox, learn more here.

Navy and White Date Night

My shoes have been on repeat.  I mean REPEAT!  Like every day!  These Jack Rogers from Neiman Marcus Last Call are the MOST comfortable shoes EVER!  Sorry for virtually shouting but I just love them that much!!

What is your favorite color combo?

Spring Break Beach Essentials

My Spring Break may be over but I know some of you are just gearing up to start yours!  If you're headed to the beach then this post is for you!  The beach is the absolute best place to spend spring break (or really any break you can get!) in my opinion.  So I wanted to share a few of my spring break beach essentials with you to make your spring break the best one yet!

First things first - SPF!  I think there have been enough articles in Glamour and Seventeen now preaching the importance of SPF so I am not going to lecture you on that one.  We all like to come back from spring break with a little color but you don't want to risk your health to do so!  I like to use SPF 30 or so on my upper body and a lower SPF on my legs so they can get tan.  Then I use SPF 70 on my face and wear a hat and keep my head in the shade when I lay out.  I do NOT like any rays of the sun touching my face!  I usually wear some SPF on my face every day.

Once you're lathered up you need a gorgeous bikini to slip into!  These are a few I'm swooning over:
The preppy trend for shoes is of course Jack Rogers, which I love and own several pairs of!  However I can NOT wear mine to the beach!  I do not want to subject them to sand so I usually go with some $3 Old Navy filp flops, either way find some cute pairs below!

As far as a beach cover up goes, I just wear a simple cotton dress.  No idea if it is really a cover up or not!  But it works for me!

Now of course your beach bag has to be chic!  I love my giant straw bag from Target, canvas bag from Pink, and Lilly Pulitzer tote bag.  I kind of just pick whichever one suits me that day, similar below.

My bag is usually loaded up with extra sunscreen and a HUGE towel!  I like to extra large beach towels so I can sprawl out ;)  Other fun things I usually bring are a magazine or book, mini speaker for my phone, and a BIG 'ole cup of water!  Gotta stay hydrated!

How cute is that glitter Kate Spade bottle?!

Let me know what you're doing for Spring Break and check out my other spring break posts!
