Last week we were lucky enough to be on a 5-night Disney Cruise! We sailed on the Disney Magic had the absolute best week ever. This was our first real vacation with Avery and it couldn't have been any better. I'm so excited to share all the details with you as well as some upcoming posts with tips & tricks about Disney Cruise Line and about cruising with a baby. Get ready for picture overload!
Embark Day
Living in Orlando we typically get cruises out of Port Canaveral, just an hour away, however this one was from Miami, which is about a 4 hour drive for us. So by the time we boarded the staterooms were already available. We headed straight to ours and Avery was in full relaxation mode in no time haha.
After we dropped off our carry-on bags we headed up to Cabanas, the lunch buffet available when you board. I always enjoy it because it signals the start of a cruise vacation to me! This was my 5th Disney cruise and my husband's 9th (I told you we love to cruise!). Avery enjoyed lots of yummy foods but she especially loved the green beans!
Our friends Kaitlyn, Preston, and Archer were able to come on the cruise with us, which only made it that much better! For dinner the first night we had a reservation at Palo, which I'll talk more about in another post, but after the muster drill we all went back and got ready for our double date night!
We took the babies to the Small World Nursery and headed up to the *spoiler alert* best meal of the cruise!
Unfortunately just as we finished dessert we all got messages saying the babies were upset. Since it was Avery's first time in a nursery setting we ran down and picked them up right away. At least we got through all our courses!
Day at Sea
The first full day of our cruise was a day at sea. I loved that we had an entire day to explore the ship, check out all the activities, and eat lots of yummy food!
We started the day at Wake Up with Disney Junior! Led by one of the awesome crew members, they get the kids moving and even had a special guest at the end! Archer and Avery might have been a little young to get fully involved but I know they both still loved it. Check out this little video clip that proves the world really does revolve around Avery.
After that we stumbled upon a meet and greet with Princess Minnie. Avery loves nothing more than meeting her favorite Disney characters! Her face is too cute - pure happiness!
Later we decided to check out the splash zone. Kids in swim diapers can not go in any of the pools unfortunately, but they do have a splash zone for them which didn't look like much but turned out to be a highlight of the trip for Avery!
After naps we were all ready for lunch and the group decided to try out Lumiere's, one of the dinner restaurants that also offers a sit down lunch. The kids were angels during this meal and the food was so delicious! Probably the second best meal of the cruise, after Palo!
We were fortunate enough to have adjoining rooms, both with verandahs, which meant we could create our own private hang out area. I think relaxing out there was everyone's favorite. We didn't have to worry about the kids running off, we had the world's best views, and one time even ordered room service while we were hanging out!
Dinner that night was the (optional) formal night, I pretty much dressed us formally every night but chose our dressiest number for that evening. My mommy daughter dream come true! My mom gave me this Lilly Pulitzer shift for Avery at my baby shower and I purchased the matching dress while I was still pregnant! It was so special to finally wear the outfits together on Avery's first cruise!
For dinner we ordered the babies kid's meals each night which our server brought out and cut into tiny pieces for them! Avery was such a big girl eating all sorts of new-to-her foods right off her plate!
These little babes were as good as you could ask two 1 year olds to be at long dinners every night. They needed to get up and walk around a few times but overall I think dinners went better than expected! Can you get any cuter? I think not!
