Lately I have been seeing a lot of talk around capsule wardrobes again (they were really big a few years back) and I, being pregnant, decided that a maternity capsule wardrobe would be a great idea!

What is a capsule wardrobe?
A capsule wardrobe is a collection of a certain number of pieces (clothing, shoes, and accessories) that can mix and match and essentially be "all you need" for your wardrobe. Depending on the size of the capsule wardrobe you should be able to create enough outfits that would be appropriate for all or most occasions in addition to day to day wear.
How many pieces should be in a capsule wardrobe?
This comes down to preference of course but the general idea of a capsule wardrobe is to keep it relatively small. For this maternity capsule wardrobe I went with only 20 pieces. However, at this size it will not work for every season and every occasion, it is a "comfy cozy" capsule wardrobe that is perfect for a busy mom on the go!
What should be in a capsule wardrobe?
This will vary slightly depending on your style and taste, but for this comfy cozy themed capsule wardrobe I have a mix of basics - tees, leggings, etc. Nothing frilly or fancy.
For a capsule wardrobe to work you also need to stick with a general color scheme so that things can mix and match. In this case I'm using white, black, navy, and blush pink. You will see every item fits within or at least coordinates with this color scheme.
What are the benefits of a capsule wardrobe?
A capsule wardrobe will help you save time picking out your outfits because everything can work together. It is also of a manageable size so that you can really see what you have to work with and not be overwhelmed by a jam-packed closet. Plus it can expand your ideas of how you can style each individual piece in different ways.
Another benefit of a capsule wardrobe is that it can save you money if you stick to it. If you are working with a capsule wardrobe you would only need to buy new items for specific occasions or when you need to replace/update an item in your wardrobe.
Maternity Capsule Wardrobe
While the items selected are all (or mostly) maternity wear, it should be noted that you can easily find similar pieces in non-maternity to make this work for you, pregnant or not!
